Complete Your MBA Program Faster

For people in the professional world, one of the best ways to improve your chances of having professional success is to continue your education. While getting a bachelor’s degree is a great start, those that pursue and complete their MBA will find that they may have more job opportunities upon graduation and might earn more money than someone who only has a bachelor’s degree. While getting an MBA can be a great career move, many people find that it can take far too long to complete. Those that pursue a part-time MBA could end up taking three year or more before they graduate. Here are some tips to help you finish your MBA in 12 months or less.

Accelerated Programs

One tip for finishing your MBA faster would be to look for an accelerated program. Many traditional and reputable MBA programs today are starting to offer accelerated programs to students that already have some business background and education. While most MBA programs have between four and eight general education business courses, the accelerated programs allow these classes to be skipped altogether if the student has taken a similar course in the past, or has relevant work experience.

Double-Up on Class Load

Another option for finishing your MBA program faster would be to try taking more classes at the same time. Most MBA students will take no more than one or two classes per quarter, and no more than six per year. When a program consists of twenty classes, this could mean that you will spend more than three years in school. If you are able to increase the annual amount of classes that you take to eight, you will be able to reduce the amount of time that you are in school to 2.5 years. Taking advantage of weekend or summer courses could further decrease the amount of time that it takes you to graduate.

Earn Extra Credits

The third way that you could cut down on the amount of time that it takes you to finish school would be by looking for ways to earn extra credits throughout the school year. Many MBA programs offer students the opportunity to earn extra credits by completing side projects or work study programs.
In some cases, these special projects will require you to interview senior management at your company or complete a research project on post-MBA employment options. Not only will you receive some extra credit and finish school faster, but you could also meet some important people and learn more about your professional field.

Full-Time Enrollment

One of the best ways to finish your MBA program faster would be to go full-time. Many professionals choose to get their MBA in a part- time program where they work during the day and go to class at night. Since they do not have a lot of time to dedicate to school, it usually takes three years or more to graduate.
If you are able to do so, you could take a leave of absence or quite work entirely and go to school full-time. While in school, you will also be able to take advantage of the school’s job placement services, which can help you to find a new job after you have obtained your degree.
